Rob is a senior advisor to private equity and venture capital-funded financial services businesses, in particular those businesses undergoing substantial growth and changes in their business models.
Rob has a combination of investing and operating experience. From 2006 to 2015, he was a founding partner of Pine Brook and served as a lead financial services investing partner. From September 2003 until co-founding Pine Brook in 2006, Rob was senior vice president, financial and treasury services for Arch Capital Group, Ltd., where he was involved in capital raising, capital allocation, business development, investment management / treasury and internal audit. In addition, he was a principal architect and lead negotiator for Arch Capital’s $1 billion Flatiron Re sidecar, one of the largest reinsurance structures established following Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. In 2006, he also served as an advisor to the founder and chairman of Aeolus Ltd. with regard to the company’s formation and capitalization. From 1999 to 2003, Rob was with Warburg Pincus, where he focused on financial services investing, particularly in the commercial finance and insurance areas. He played a significant role in executing Warburg Pincus’ 2001 investment in Arch Capital and served on Arch Capital’s board of directors. Before joining Warburg Pincus, Rob founded FA Services, an emerging markets financial services and investment boutique based in Moscow, serving as the lead partner and as CFO of several Eastern European firms, including APP, a Warburg Pincus portfolio company. From 1988 to 1992, he worked in New York and Tokyo for Morgan Stanley where he specialized in technology-focused corporate finance and M&A.
